Biography
Fiona was born in Yorkshire and managed to gain all her
musical education there despite living in Essex. She graduated from Huddersfield
School of Music after studying piano with Ronald Newton and organ with Peter
Seymour and then went on to achieve a PGCE (distinction) at St John’s
College, York. Since then she has gained an MA in Psychology for Musicians
at Sheffield University and has published several articles on pupil motivation
and preparing for performance. (Piano Professional and Music Teacher)
Fiona is a member of the professional development panel of the ABRSM
and works as a tutor and tutor mentor for Essex Music Services, teaching
the piano and training and supporting other instrumental teachers, in
addition to running her own successful private practice. She is also
the Hal Leonard UK piano presenter. Using her experience as a piano
teacher of pupils aged 7 to 60 Fiona gives talks and presentations to
schools, instrumental teachers and music services on a variety of professional
development topics and performs regularly in the Essex area. She is
a member of her local EPTA group and of the ISM.
